In October 2005, IMX spun off its uranium assets under the company, Uranex (ASX:UNX). UNX has a current market capitalisation of $70m with wide geographic spread from Australia to Tanzania. Uranex has received encouraging results from its radiometrics surveys, pitting and drill programs from its Tanzania and Australia projects.

IMX holds 46.3 million shares in Uranex , giving it a 27.3% shareholding. IMX Resources directors Johann Jooste-Jacobs and Stephen Hunt are also directors of Uranex. Mr Jooste-Jacobs is also the Chairman of Uranex.
